SAMURAI CHAMPLOO

One of the most interesting trios that could come together ever: Jin, Mugen and sweet Fuu. In search of a certain samurai that smells of sunflowers they set off on a road full of adventure, drama and very intense moments. No doubt this is one of my favorite animes. Here's why:

The Fight

Say what?

Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique Boying (break-dance) inspired fighting style.

Jin has a more traditional style but don’t think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways.

In the language of Okinawa, "champloo" means to mix things together. And that is what we have here, two insanely powerful samurai named Mugen and Jin. Mugen has the nose and instincts of a wild animal, as well as a rough and wild fighting style that's as powerful as it is uniquely his own. Jin's a bit more refined. The master swordman trained under a legendary warrior rumored to have never lost a fight, and people say he's even more powerful than his master.

Wild-man Mugen and the cool and composed Jin seem like oil and water. Still, they end up traveling together after their paths cross by chance. But these two are far from friends. The only thing tying them together is the mysterious man that a young woman named Fuu is searching for. Their jouney is a modern road trip through the lens of a bygone era-a historical drama that shatters the classic conventions of the genre.

Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don‘t think she doesn‘t have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.
